Nut Free Energy Bites

My kids have a lot of friends with peanut and tree nut allergies. It is really hard to find snacks and energy bites with out at least some  type of nut or nut butter. I adapted this recipe from a couple different energy bite recipes I found . I hope your kiddos enjoy!

  • 1 cup of oats (old fashioned, quick oats, gluten free, anything)
  • 3/4 cup cheerios
  • ½ cup of sunflower seed butter
  • ⅓ cup of honey (raw is best) or maple syrup (pure NOT pancake syrup!!)
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
  • 1/2  chocolate chips

  1. Place the oats and Cheerios into a food processor and pulse until they are coarsely ground up.
  2. Add the maple syrup and sunbutter, and pulse until a thick dough forms.
  3. Stop the food processor and stir in the chocolate chips.
  4. Use your hands to roll the dough into balls, and place them in a container with a lid.
  5. Store in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
